This is the Tweet posted by Nicholas Wyzykowski, 21, here in Austin, hours before he rear ended a Prius driven by 60-year-old kindergarten teacher Peggy Howard, her 18-year-old son Cale, and a friend, killing the mother and son. Investigators said Wyzykowski was driving his Chevy Avalanche at speeds of 80-100 mph at the moment of the crash. He continued on to strike a Camry in the oncoming lane, injuring 4 more people, two of them seriously. Wyzykowski tried to flee the scene wearing only a towel, but was apprehended. He had a BAC of 0.27, over three times the legal limit in Texas, and has been charged with 19 felonies. Ironically, Howard had picked up her son and his friend from the movies because she was worried about his safety driving at night. Wyzykowski suffered only minor injuries. Y'all be safe out there.

I sometimes wonder what does it take for people to learn from other's mistakes.

I've played Gran Turismo with a few drinks in me enough to know that I don't want to risk being out on real world roads with impaired drivers, including myself.
Sure, I can still get around the virtual track decently, but I'll also resort to the "oops-crash-reset-start over" thing. That doesn't happen in real life, for me or anyone else.
Be safe tonight, Opponauts. Don't drink and drive and be extra aware for those who do.

Very sad. Kill yourself if you must. Not innocents.

I feel like if more people played racing simulators after drinking, they'd know how dangerous they are behind the wheel, and reevaluate their decisions.

It happened at 620 and 2222? If he was traveling towards the lake on 620, he probably would have hit someone head on at the first curve. Terrible.
A few weeks ago, I got intoxicated at a party. Plenty intoxicated. As my sober wife drove us home, I kept thinking "I would have hit the wall there if I was driving... I would have clipped that car if I was driving... I would have ran that red light if I was driving..."
Don't drink and drive. Sleeping on a couch or taking a taxi is better than killing yourself and/or others on the way home.

I drink before five if I get out of work early enough......then again I walk to work so it's the bar that's on the straight road between my apartment and work. I don't think I've driven to a bar since moving here, actually.

I can only do the goodwood challenges after having a few but then again my car drives like a car and is in traffic instead of being a plastic-wheeled toy in my living room. GT skills =/= 30mph traffic skills.

Just so we're all clear, there is nothing wrong with drinking before 5. Hell, drinking before 1 is fine in my book.
However, driving afterwards is just stupid.
Needed to make that clarification.

If driving an Avalanche is right, I'd rather be wrong.
